The Tecstar Radio to Radio Helmet communication kits

The Tecstar Helmet-Kit allows rider-to-pillion or bike-to-bike communication up to two miles. The kit comprises of 2 two-way radios, 2 crash helmet microphone and speaker sets and 2 all weather PTT (push-to-talk) switches with mounting. The kit provides high-quality communications for many applications where crash helmets are used. The system is simple to install and simple to use. The radios are built to the PMR446 licence exempt European standard and can therefore be used throughout Europe.

Step 1 Speaker and microphones

The helmet assembly comprises two speakers and a microphone, which are simply Velcro attached into position, one speaker adjacent to each ear and the microphone in front of the mouth (a boom mic in the open face helmet kit). The wiring is then neatly pushed within the helmet padding leaving a short connection cable protruding a few centimetres to one side. The quick release connector is then ready to connect to the radio.

Step 2 Push to Talk Switch

The PTT (push-to-talk) switch assembly is designed to be used either on a padded glove or attached to the handle-bars or to the bike frame. The switch assembly has a Velcro strap allowing simple attachment to the desired location. The connection cable can then be routed to a convenient position. The quick release connector is then ready to connect to the radio.

Step 3 Radio connection

The radio is connected to the system with the three plug connections, one to the radio, one to the helmet and one to the PTT switch. Turn the radio on and the radios are ready to use. Once the radio is turned on and connected up, it can then be placed into an inside pocket and protected from the weather. The radios can also be used as standard stand-alone two-way radios.

Step 4 Enjoy music on the move

The KA1 Walkman adapter extends the standard helmet kit providing a walkman connection, simply plug in your personal music player to listen to music on the move while still being able to communicate with the radio
